Inventory Planning & Replenishment

A day-by-day simulation of stock at every depot, plant and component level. Planamind works out what to order and when, sizes safety stock to each item's service level with Ana's help, and shows where stock can move instead of being bought again.

Why inventory goes wrong

Too much of the wrong stock, not enough of the right stock.

Excess and stockouts usually sit side by side, because buffers, orders and transfers are set by rule of thumb rather than by the numbers.

01

The same buffer for everything

High-value A items and long-tail C items get the same days of cover, so working capital is tied up where it isn't needed and thin where it is.

02

Buying what you already own

One location runs short while another sits on excess, and a new order is raised instead of moving the stock.

03

Expiry found too late

Short-shelf-life stock is ordered in the wrong quantities and write-offs are discovered after the fact.

How Planamind plans inventory

Five capabilities, one replenishment plan.

Replenishment runs on the agreed demand plan in the same workspace, and its results flow into materials, freight and the P&L.

01 · Daily supply simulation

Every day, every location, every tier

Planamind simulates stock day by day from depots to plants to components, using stock on hand by batch, stock in transit and open customer orders. Orders are sized to cover safety stock and the order cycle from the day they arrive, then rounded to minimum order quantities and whole pallets. Every item-location is marked as stockout, at risk or healthy.

AI · Ask AnaAsk Ana about any item's supply plan, such as why an order was raised or when stock runs out, and she answers from the live plan.

02 · Safety stock by service level

The right buffer for each item, suggested by Ana

Items are classified A, B or C by units or value, and each class gets its own service level. Ana suggests safety stock in days of cover from the service level, how far the forecast typically misses for that item, and its lead time. Apply one suggestion or many at once, or let the formula recalculate safety stock on every run.

AI · Safety-stock suggestionAna shows her suggestion next to your current setting and labels each item: excess buffering, where applying frees up working capital, or currently lean, where applying reduces stockout risk.

03 · Transfers & allocation

Move stock before you buy more

Within groups of locations you define, Planamind plans transfers from locations with excess to those running short. When supply can't cover everyone, it allocates proportionally, by fair share or by priority. A location map shows the transfers at a glance.

AI · Stock healthThe Stock Health view points out where to move stock instead of ordering more, and Ana's analysis puts the actions in priority order.

04 · Batch & expiry

Plan short-shelf-life stock batch by batch

Stock is used earliest-expiry-first, batch by batch, and shelf life caps how much is ordered. The plan shows projected write-offs before they happen, highlights batches expiring within 90 days, and groups stock by weeks of cover.

Connected to promotionsNear-expiry stock can trigger a recommended promotion to sell it through in time, and Ana assesses that promotion before it runs.

05 · Order review & working capital

Planners stay in control, and finance sees the value

Planners can override or cancel any suggested order, add a note and mark it reviewed, and the plan updates to match. An ROI report shows working capital released, inventory reduced, sales recovered, ROI and payback.

AI · Working capitalAna's Stock Health analysis shows how much working capital could be unlocked and which actions to take first.

Ana in action

Excess and shortages, caught while there's still time to act.

Ana compares every buffer with what the numbers say it should be, and flags where capital and service are at stake.

Excess buffering

Safety stock can be safely reduced

An A-class item carries far more cover than its forecast error and lead time require. Applying Ana's suggestion frees up working capital without adding service risk.

Near expiry

Promotion window before expiry

A product in the North is carrying excess cover with batches expiring within 90 days. A promotion is recommended to clear it in time.
